This week we continued to work on our songs for our albums and we started the mixing and mastering processes. We started working with Audacity, EQ and Compression plugins, and Ozone 7. Please make sure that you have 4-6 songs completed (3-5 minutes in length each) by our next meeting (April 11) so that we can begin to wrap up this project and move on to the next project.

Yesterday we continued to work on our songs using Audiotool. We learned how to use samples to build songs and we learned how to use various effects to change the mood of our songs. Please make sure to finish at least 2-4 songs for next week!!!
Don't forget that there is a tutorial page to help you with nearly everything in Audiotool!! Check it out at this link!! Today we worked on our songs and we began experimenting with other music apps. These included Drumbit (an awesome drum machine), Pulsate (a great app for making ambient music and crazy reflective sounds), and WebSID (a Commodore 64 emulator). During the next week please work on your songs for the album and try to extend your songs to between 3 and 4 minutes in length.

We also talked about the dangers of using samples and listened to an example of how samples can be used. Take a listen to the bass lines of these two songs and see if you can here it!! The link to those examples can be found below. Lastly, we talked about how you can find music that you can sample from legally by using material from the Free Music Archive. Remember: Creative Commons is our friend!!!! You can find the page at the link below. You can find some pdf files below that will help you gain a better understanding of AudioSauna. Lastly, please remember to take our 2 question quiz!!!
Today we practiced our listening skills by playing the Telephone Game and unfortunately we didn't make it all the way around the class with the correct phrase. That's okay because I know we will get it next time!! We then began to talk about the basics of synthesis and how sounds can be represented by various colors. We were given two handouts about this subject. You can find them below! Lastly, we started working with our synths!! We learned how to change the various Oscillators on an analog synth (using AudioSauna) in order to create new sounds and we started building our first loops!!
